These Terms are the agreement between you and Our Life for use of the app and related services. They cover how your account works, what you may and may not do, and — importantly for a health app — the fact that Our Life organizes and explains your records but is not a medical provider.
Please read the highlighted parts. Section 4 (Not a medical service), Section 12 (Disclaimers), and Section 13 (Limitation of liability) limit our responsibilities and affect your legal rights.
Acceptance of these Terms
By downloading, accessing, or using the Our Life application and related services (the "Service"), you agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms") and to our Privacy Policy and Medical Disclaimer, which are incorporated by reference. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority where you live) to create an account. By using the Service you represent that you meet this requirement and that the information you provide is accurate.
Your account & security
- You are responsible for maintaining the security of your device, your sign-in method, and your recovery code.
- Because the Service is end-to-end encrypted, your recovery code is the only way to restore access to your encrypted data on a new device. We cannot recover it for you, and if it is lost your encrypted data may be unrecoverable.
- Notify us promptly of any unauthorized use of your account.
The Service is not a medical service
Our Life helps you gather, organize, understand, and share your medical records. It is not a medical device, does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment, and is not a substitute for professional care. Reference ranges and explanations are for general information only. Always consult a qualified clinician about your health, and in an emergency call your local emergency number. See our Medical Disclaimer for full detail.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for anything unlawful, or upload content you do not have the right to store or share.
- Access or manage another person's records without proper authority to do so.
- Attempt to breach, probe, or circumvent the security of the Service except through our responsible disclosure process.
- Reverse engineer, resell, or build a competing service from the Service, except where such restriction is prohibited by law.
- Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Service.
Your content
Your records and other content are yours. You grant us only the limited rights needed to operate the Service — chiefly to store and sync the encrypted form of your content and transmit it at your direction. Because your content is end-to-end encrypted, we cannot read it, and we do not use it to train advertising models or sell it. You are responsible for the content you add and for having the right to add it.
Sharing & caregiver responsibilities
- When you share records or manage another person as a caregiver, you confirm you have the authority and any necessary consent to do so.
- Shared access is read-only and revocable, but you understand that a recipient may retain information they have already viewed or exported. Revoking a share removes future access and deletes the shared copy from our servers.
- Caregiver roles (Owner, Viewer) govern what each person can do; you are responsible for whom you invite and the role you assign.
Third-party services
The Service integrates with third parties such as Apple Health, Apple and Google sign-in, and your healthcare providers' systems. Your use of those services is governed by their terms and policies, and we are not responsible for them. Availability of provider data depends on those providers.
Fees
The Service is currently free to download and use. If we introduce paid features in the future, we will present the price and terms before you are charged, and any purchases will be handled through the Apple App Store subject to Apple's terms.
Intellectual property
The Service, including its software, design, and the "Our Life" name and logo, is owned by us and protected by intellectual-property laws. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service for your personal, non-commercial use in accordance with these Terms.
Termination
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time from within the app; deletion is permanent. We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms or to protect the Service or other users. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination — including content ownership, disclaimers, and liability limits — will survive.
Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that data import from third parties will be complete or accurate. You are responsible for keeping your recovery code; we are not liable for data that becomes inaccessible because a recovery code was lost.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Our Life and its suppliers will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, arising out of or related to your use of the Service. To the extent we are found liable, our total liability will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim or USD 100. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of these may not apply to you.
Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Our Life from claims arising out of your misuse of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your infringement of the rights of others, including sharing or managing records without authority.
Governing law & disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which Our Life is established, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. The courts of that jurisdiction will have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes, unless mandatory local consumer law provides otherwise. [Confirm governing jurisdiction and any arbitration/class-action terms with counsel before publishing.]
Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you in the app or by email and update the "Last updated" date. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
